What is MOCHIKOMI ?
As part of the Tokyo BD Festival, we are launching a limited-time online matching platform.
This special platform brings together international publishers, international comic artists, Japanese publishers, and Japanese comic artists, creating opportunities to discover new works, connect with one another, and explore new possibilities for publishing across borders.
For stories and artwork to travel beyond countries and languages, there needs to be both an opportunity to connect and a way to communicate.
That is why the platform allows participants to preview works in advance, send requests for meetings, and connect with interpreters to support multilingual communication. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where creators and publishers can meet and communicate with confidence.
The matching platform serves as a bridge between comic artists who want their work to be discovered and publishers looking for new talent.
Open only during the Tokyo BD Festival, it is a crossroads for international creativity, where works, people, and new publishing possibilities come together.
How to participate
Please proceed according to your role as a Creator, Publisher, or Interpreter.
Join as a Creator
Creator
- Click the “Join” button.
- For first‑time users, please select “Sign Up” and register a username (or email address) and password.
- Select “Creator” in the “Category” field.
- Enter your name in the “Title” field.
- Insert an image that conveys the atmosphere of the work
- Check the genre of the work (multiple selections possible)
- Check the languages you can speak (multiple selections possible)
- If you are active on any online platforms, please include a link (optional).
Join as a Publisher
Publisher
- Click the “Join” button.
- For first‑time users, please select “Sign Up” and register a username (or email address) and password.
- Select “Publisher” in the “Category” field.
- Enter your name in the “Title” field.
- Check the times when you are available for an appointment (multiple selections possible).
- Check the languages you can speak (multiple selections possible)
- Enter your name in the “Title” field.
Join as an Interpreter
Interpreter
- Click the “Join” button.
- For first‑time users, please select “Sign Up” and register a username (or email address) and password.
- Select “Interpreter” in the “Category” field.
- Enter your name in the “Title” field.
- Check the languages you can interpret in (multiple selections possible)
- Enter your desired hourly wage.
Volunteering or hourly compensation are both welcome. Since this site cannot process any payments, please discuss details and conditions directly via private messages.
After registration
- You can view other participants’ posts by clicking the “View Posts” button.
- If there are any authors or publishers you would like to talk to, you can contact them directly using the messaging function.
- If necessary, we can also contact an interpreter.
- You can check your conversations by clicking the “Messages” button in the upper right corner of the screen.

This site does not support any financial transactions. Please confirm all details regarding compensation and working conditions directly with the other party via private messages.
Our company cannot be held responsible for any disputes related to payments or financial matters. Before beginning any collaboration, please ensure that both parties have clearly agreed on the payment method, schedule, scope of work, and deadlines.
